@AliG89

I've only seen these statistics for a few for schools that want to make it apparent. (Recruitment Statistics | Biomolecular Science and Engineering Program | UC Santa Barbara)

More importantly, I don't think GPA + GRE is really a good indicator of your chances. So, knowing the average GPA and GRE is not really going to give you much insight. I think other parts of the application are weighted significantly more.

Also, they are *averages*. The average does not give you any insight if there are any outliers unless you also see a standard deviation.

But what do I know--I'm in the same boat as you and waiting to hear if I've gotten any interviews.

I applied last year, and a majority of applicants get interview invitations in January. Do not panic from seeing some people get invitations at the end of December. Univ of Washington will probably be one of the first to invite AND reject in December. Most schools will send out invitations from January to even early February.

This thread will blow up then with are-they-finished-yet, when-do-they-send-rejections, when-do-they send acceptances.

Also, some schools will never tell you if you've been rejected.

Hey all, thought I would stop lurking seeing as interview notification time is coming (can't help but think "Winter is Coming"). I'm a senior undergrad at a small liberal arts college. I applied to UW (MCB), UChicago (molecular biosciences), UCSF (tetrad), Caltech (biochemistry and molecular biophysics), and UOregon (biology umbrella).

Starting to freak out just a little bit seeing people getting notifications already... this will be an interesting winter break! Good luck errbody.

@greengenes Congrats on Scripps! When is the interview?

Unfortunately, I took the GRE subject in November and won't get my scores until Dec 23, so I think they probably won't even look at my app until then. When I contacted admissions though they said it was ok I submit the score late so I figured I'd give it a try anyhow. Anyone who's applied before have experience with this problem?

Interview dates are weekends of feb 24 and mar 2.

I have no idea about GRE scores and when they get them ect.

To note about my application, I worked there summer '06 as an intern, so my application may or maynot have been fast tracked. (the PI now is affiliated with UCSD, and I have not been in contact with him, but perhaps he remembered me?)

I am a bit disappointed in myself today. After emailing one of my programs, I found out that interview invites would be going out this week. So I have not left my phone behind for the past several days.

This afternoon, I was working at the bench and missed a call from the a number in Mass. No voicemail.

So, in a state of panic, I googled the phone number--and sure enough it is from a prof in the department I am interested in. Now I have to live with the knowledge that I may resort to stalking during this application season.

I got a number calling me today with an area code I didnt recognize and my heart skipped a beat but the caller was an automated thing in spanish. I check my smart phone constantly for email updates etc. Damn this is wait is killing me. Not helping that my current lab is in freak-out mode thinking we aren't getting a grant renewal for my project (the current one will get me to sept though). Le sigh..............

Might as well join in since I am finally done with applications.

Stats: Small, private university in Florida
Major: Biochemistry. Minor: biology. Science GPA: 4.0
GRE: 151 (51%) V, 152 (65%)Q, 3.5W (Yeah, I suck at testing).

Research experience: I spent two semesters working on a EPA-funded project for the EPA P3 Competition on greywater reuse. I also have a summer undergrad research experience in a microbiology lab at the University of Pittsburgh. Also, I am currently in the Mayo Clinic's Clinical Research Internship Study Program where I am working with a neurologist on epilepsy cases.

No publications. LORs from the two PIs I worked with in research projects, 2 more from profs I have taken classes with.

Harvard BBS
Yale BBS
Cornell Pharmacology
NYU
John Hopkin's BCMB
UNC-Chapel Hill BBSP
Mayo Clinic
UCF
University of Pittsburgh - IBGP

I received an invite from UNC. I am still waiting to hear from others, but I am glad to hear from UNC!

@Ingaki, I wouldn't worry yet. I believe all of those schools don't send out the majority of their invites until January.
