Interesting. Well I hope you get an interview there! I applied, but it's not my top choice. I'm indifferent about MIT. None of the research there really thrills me, at least in the BE dept. I did, though, apply to the MEMP program and that's probably my top choice.

Oh ok, thanks for the update! I figured MIT BE would be around the same time too, but I guess they are doing it early this year.

i called them too. they said they are still sending out invites until mid-feb. but I doubt they will take more than 3 from one school since their class size is only 20ish.

Hmm that's interesting. I guess if you go to a top school it wouldn't matter much. I wonder how many they typically invite for interview.

i went to top 3 engineering school, but still. I won't expect they invite so many cause honestly how many people would turn down MIT.

I got an invite to MIT BE for a March 9-10 interview two weeks ago, but I'm technically under Applied Biosciences.

the 3 people i know all got invites yesterday. So I assume MIT's not sending all of them at the same time. Can I ask which school you're from?

I'm from UCSD, a human biology major. I applied to applied biosciences for the pharmacology program and got an invite from the chair of BE admissions.

itisallforgotten, thanks for the kind post! I figure that there are at least a few people surfing these kind of forums that are mere mortals.

This being said, I am jealous of the 3.9+ gpas, 1st authors as undergrads, etc... If I don't get accepted to really legit grad programs, that's okay. It makes me feel better that there is excellent compition.

If you look at the results survey on the gradcafe website, it seems as if everybody has a 4.0 and near perfect GRE scores. Very competitive year indeed.
