| Graduate Research Project Advice?
Hello,
I am a second year graduate student in Electrical Engineering with focus in RF/Analog Electronics. Next semester, I need three courses to graduate. I am planning to take one research project (in field of RF electronics) and two courses. I have been offered a project by professor in FPGA design since I did very well in his course. I am thinking about ditching a course and want to take two research project and one course in my last semester.
I definitely certain that I will be taking a research project in RF electronics and course in RFIC design. I am not sure if I should the second research project or just take a course.
FPGA topic is really tempting (I know this because I have some experience with FPGA programming). I am have couple of thoughts at this time so need some advice on narrowing it down.
- I want to take second research to make the most of out of graduate school experience. I think I will learn more my doing something hands-on instead of taking a course. Even though it is little off from my concentration, it will help me diversify my experience in hardware design.
-At same time I am thinking that handling two research project might be a little too much. From my experience in doing research as an undergrad, research is totally different than taking course because you are constantly thinking about it.
Please advice me on what path can I take.
Thank you.
