advantages of prestige in SLP program

What do people feel are the advantages of prestigious programs in Speech Language Pathology over basic but accredited programs? My son is applying for the second time this year and has some interest in programs that would carry more prestige. Would that be beneficial if he decided to pursue a doctorate at some point? If so, how much?

Almost by definition, grad schools are prestige hounds, so yes, a higher-ranked programs is (nearly) always better for a doctorate. But the local state school is probably fine for fpls who just want to be practitioners.
