Hello, if anyone knows a good counselling (psychology) program in Master's level, can you please list those schools here?

There are scores of programs. You will have to do a little more leg work and come back with more specific questions.

Hello, I am sorry for not being specific at the first place.

But it seems like there arn't that many areas in counselling program..at least for the Master's level.

Most schools have

1)School counselling

2) community counselling

3) Rehabilitation Counselling

4) School Psychology(Research is important here)

I am interested in either school counselling or community counselling(aka counselor education in higher education setting in some grad schools)

I am not really interested in research but I would like to deal with more practical issues.

Therefore I don't think I want to get a Ph.D.

So...I am thinking of M.Ed degree rather than M.A. degree which usually has required thesis.

Anyway, I have searched the internet and it seems like University of Maryland has ranked on #1 place in the counseling area..

But I have never herad about this University before...and I don't think their overall reputation is good.

I am interested in Teacher's College in Columbia University. There's no doubt that Columbia has excellent overall school reputation.. but do they have good counselling program also?

It seems like they have fairly easier admission requirement..according to their admission guideline. It's the only school that doesn't even require GRE for M.Ed

Does anyone know about counselling program at UPENN?(not UPENN State)

Anyway, among the fairly well known universities, are there any grad schools that have good counselling master's program?

Are you an international? Maryland is a good school. The Teacher's College at Columbia is a good school (one of the best educational programs). Penn doesn't have a counseling program. Penn's teaching program is also excellent (right up there with Columbia).

Penn has a master's in Social Work, so that might interest you. Actually, you'll find many more schools that offer master's degrees in Social Work than in Psychology/Counseling. I think social work might fit what you want to do, as well.

I am in Canada now..and I have never heard about the Maryland University.

Hm..so TC Columbia University seems to have good social work program according to the data you posted..

Do you have those data for counselling program?

For UPENN, they have counselling psychological program which is called Psychological Services. I actually got e-mail back from their department.

It seems like Berkley only has school psych(research-intensive program) but not counselling program.

By the way, I forgot to ask about Wisconsin-Madison.

I know they have counselling psyc grad program..but just like UPENN, I don't know if their program is good.

Somehow I am also attracted to Wisconsin-Madison..

Oh, I see. It's Penn's program is in the GSE, not in the CAS. It has an 1130 average GRE with a 3.37 average GPA. Penn's GSE has a good reputation (at least for their EdD), I guess, but it's easily the graduate school with the lowest GRE scores at Penn...take from that what you will. In general, it is much easier to gain admission to the Graduate School of Education at elite universities.
