Sending GRE scores

After I took the GRE test I was told I could forward my scores to up to 4 schools. Sending them to a school at a later date would cost me $15. So when I start applying to graduate schools do I actually have to send them my score from ETS? That could really add up to a lot of money. Can I just simply state my score, and then once accepted, send them my scores for verification?

No. You need to send each program the official scores from ETS.

Another question about this...if I'm taking the GRE in June, and haven't obviously submitted any applications to schools yet and whatnot, can I still submit them on test day, or is it likely schools will lose them? It'd be nice to save myself the $60!

yes you can. most schools (if not, all) keep incoming test scores (be it TOEFL, GMAT or GRE) for 2 years whether or not you apply for the school!

If you take the GRE more than once, does the testing service only send the most recent score, the best score or all scores? Will the universities you apply to see if you took the GRE multiple times?

All scores less then 5 years old are sent.

However, schools vary in their policies on using them. Some consider all of them, some take the best combined score, some take the most recent...

Hi all,

Just wondering if I will receive some kind of confirmation re: the four schools I chose to send scores to at the end of the GRE exam? Will this list come in the mail along with my AWA scores? (for record keeping purposes)

Thanks!

Yes, the four schools will be listed at the bottom of your score report when it comes in the mail.
