Bad Math Subject GRE?

I will be applying for my Ph.D. and I did poorly on my first attempt at the Math Subject GRE, about 30th percentile. How does this affect me, and what sorts of schools (any?) would I be limited to?

Elsewhere I'm pretty good; 3.9 GPA, solid letters of rec, research experience NOT in my field (research in computer science; I'm hoping to go into pure math), and I'm from a mid-sized liberal arts state school.

would it be possible to study a little bit and take them over again. the math subject is not joke/cakewalk like the general math (which is kind of dumbed down) so it's important to study for them. james
