drinking at hamilton

I've heard there is a lot of drinking at hamilton. I don't drink now and don't really plan to in college, so I was wondering if there were other things to do or if I would have a harder time making friends or anything like that? I know that there will be drinking at any college, but i've heard that hamilton has more than average...

This issue comes up fairly regularly regarding Hamilton. I can assure you that there is no more drinking at Hamilton than virtually any college campus in the US. There also is no more pressure to drink than anywhere else.

Hamilton is an extremely competitive academic environment. The students have to spend a great deal of time "hitting the books" in order to succeed. So mid week partying is at a minimum. Because it is a small school and in a rural setting, there aren't many off campus places for kids to drink. Maybe that is another reason it appears to have more drinking.

There is a wide variety of students and student activities at Hamilton. If you plan on attending college and abstaining from alcohol, then you can rest assured that no one will pressure you to drink. You will also find plenty of things to do that do not involve alcohol.

To sum it up, if alcohol concerns are your main reservations about Hamilton, don't worry anymore, you will be fine at Hamilton and get a great education.
