So why did you choose...?

I'm very, very confused about where I should go to college. I'm debating between Kenyon, Middlebury, Hamilton and Bucknell. I want to major in Creative Writing, Probably double in Film, and minor in Spanish.

I was wondering if some current students could share what it was that really made them choose Hamilton. Obviously, I'll have to make my own decision in the end, but I'm just completely, utterly confused!

I'm a high school senior, so I can't give firsthand advice ... but Middlebury is the strongest school on your list, and fits your academic interests perfectly.

I would agree, Middlebury in general is the best. Too add, it would be the best to minor in your chosen language. They have a large endowment and seem to be generous when it comes to the arts including film. When I visited, my tour guide was telling me about students who were interested in film, and I was impressed to learn of the oppertunities the students had including the facilities. Not to mention, Midd has an impressive emphasis on writing, so if you got in, I'd say it's a no brainer. Perfect for your interests, and it has the best name.

honestly, (i know i've said this a million times) just visit both schools! Interact with the student body. I think that once you hit the top-tier colleges, the academics are pretty equal no matter where you go. But the types of students and the overall feel of the student body is different everywhere. You are going to be living there for four years, so you have to make sure that you'll be happy with the people! I chose Hamilton because the people were some of the friendliest people I have ever met, and everyone was extremely intelligent without the snootiness and snobbishness that one might find at a top LAC.
So, all in all, I don't think the decision is a no brainer... it is quite the brainer! (haha.) but you should make your decision based on your own opinions from college visits to the schools. and you should really do overnights to the schools... that is the BEST way to interact with a lot of students and see how daily life is at hamilton (or any school). honestly... once you are at the right school... it will just feel right.

middlebury and hamilton would both be great for your interests but visit both of them to be truly sure!
