location location...isolated

Hi all,
I just visited/interviewed here and I loved the school, but I'm worried about the location. I'm a city person and Hartwick seems really isolated, the town isn't much to speak of and the college is relatively small. I know there are great abroad opportunities, but I'm worried about feeling like I will stagnate with nowhere to go but the campus itself. Thoughts?

I know someone that felt the same way, but after classes started they fell in love with the small town. Even talked about raising a family there.

I can't speak for the current situation but just wanted to say, my brother graduated from Hartwick many, many years ago and just loved it. The town is really not an issue once you become acclimated on campus and the study abroad programs, even back then, were well-run and a wonderful experience. The people he met at school are still his best friends, 25 years later.

Hartwick is in Oneonta, which to many is a small town (~10,000 people, more when school is in session), but it has everything you might want. It has a college oriented downtown, a mall, two movie theaters and a Wal Mart. It grows on you. I have been there for 3 years now and it really is a nice place to go to school. Don't let the location deter you if you really like the academic program, I have done very well there and suggest it to anyone who is looking at schools.
