Freshman year grades in High school matter?

Question: My Freshman grades in Highschool were horrible [see below for actuall grades]. If I was able to improve over the next three years and manage 4.0's and above 2300 SAT above 34 ACT, including extracurricular clubs, sports and community service and all the good stuff, would I still be able to get into harvard or Johns Hopkins etc. based on this grades.?

For all of you out there who can answer my question:
Just got the report card for my high school grades....And guys i go to a diffrent high school than most, this school offers the IB and follows its curriculum so it is tougher than a normal HS..approximately if you get a B+ or an A- it is equivelent to an A.

Freshman Year achievements & GPA:

GPA for my school:

A = 4.0
A- = 3.7
B+ = 3.3
B = 3.0
etc...

Semester 1 GPA: 3.7 (A-)

Semester 2 GPA: 3.8

Achievements Freshmen year:

Economics State challenge David Ricardo division:State finals 4th place

Solo and Ensemble (Violin): District: 1st rating. State: 2nd rating.

You are doing just fine! Follow your true passion, with depth. You do not have to be in every activity, rather demonstrate commitment and depth to those which are your favorites. And know that you can do everything perfectly and not get in, or have a few imperfections in your record and still be accepted. So do not obsess! Enjoy!
