What does it take to get into Harvard?

Sure I know it's hard, but HOW hard?
Does Harvard look more for high standarized test scores and a high GPA?
Or does it look for outstanding extracuriculars and if so, what kind?
Also, how important are AP exams?

You're welcome. If you are in the HS class of 2011 or greater (as in not graduating this school year), a Class of 2014 thread will start on March 31st of next year and will provide a new list of statistics.
