I got an email from UMRP at Harvard?

I recently got an email from Harvard College with the subject line saying "A Message from Harvard College" that read as follows:

From: "Harvard College Office of Admissions" <umrp@fas.harvard.edu>
To: -------@comcast.net
Sent: Monday, July 2, 2012 9:38:35 AM
Subject: A Message from Harvard College

HARVARD COLLEGE
Office of Admissions
---------------------------------------
Dear Alexandra,
My name is Jordan and I am currently a sophomore at Harvard College. I’m writing on behalf of the Undergraduate Minority Recruitment Program (UMRP), and we work in collaboration with the Admissions Office to identify and encourage promising students to consider Harvard in their college selection process.
Harvard students represent a wide array of backgrounds—racial, economic, and religious, among many others. Building a strong community in an ever more diverse society is part of what makes the Harvard experience both unique and important. Living together in a residential community dedicated to a full range of pursuits—academic, extracurricular, and social—provides the opportunity for a complete and exciting undergraduate education. I personally have had such amazing experiences here, and I would love to share them with you!
I wanted to reach out to you to let you know that I am available to answer any questions you may have about applying to or attending Harvard College. You can contact me via e-mail: umrp@fas.harvard.edu; phone: (617) 495-1514; or at the following postal address: Harvard College Undergraduate Minority Recruitment Program, 86 Brattle Street, Cambridge, MA 02138.
I encourage you to visit the Harvard Admissions Office website at Harvard College Admissions Homepage, and to learn more about the UMRP here.
I hope you’re having a great summer, and I look forward to hearing from you!
Sincerely,
Jordan Dominguez '15

Yes, it is legit. It means that you, along with many, many others are on the radar screen. If you are interested, go ahead and respond to learn more. But don't overestimate what it means in terms of your getting admitted. Good luck!

I just received an email identical to this last night. i am very confused to how Harvard acquired my contact details and why they emailed me considering I only achieved 2000 on my SATs. I haven't even done my subject tests. I am from South Africa. Should I apply?

Thanks

I got this but the person's name was different :P I honestly don't think it's THAT meaningful, but it does mean that you may fall within a certain range on the ACT/SAT/PSAT/whatever.
