* SAT II: Math II 800, Literature 760, US History 730
* ACT: 36 one sitting
* Unweighted GPA: 4.0 (5.13 weighted)
* Rank: 1/300+
* AP: (5)--European History, Calculus AB, English Language, US History (currently taking)--English Literature, US Government and Politics, Macroeconomics

* Job/Work Experience: Cleaning new construction homes in summer, various instrumental music jobs
* Summer Activities: Governor's School for Prospective Teachers, Appalachian Service Project, Volunteer Girls' State
* Essays: They were just fine and solid. I chose the "Evaluate a significant experience, achievement, risk you have taken, or ethical dilemma you have faced and its impact on you" prompt on the Common App.
* Teacher Recs: One was stellar, from a math teacher who wrote a sparkling two page letter; one was short and bland, from my AP English teacher.
* Counselor Rec: Very good.
* Interview: It was with a woman who was a former professor at Harvard. We clicked quickly and talked for over an hour on Super Bowl Sunday, and I kept in touch with her after the interview to let her know of the good news. Other- * State: Tennessee
* School Type: Large public school, rarely sends students to Ivies.
* Ethnicity: White
* Gender: Female
* Income Bracket: I'd guess between 20,000 and 100,000 a year. Upper end could be higher.
* Hooks: None that I can think of off the top of my head. Reflection- * Strengths: Strong writing and math skills. Well rounded in both.
* Weaknesses: Hardcore procrastinator. Self-confidence issues at times.
* Why I think I was accepted: Solid stats; involved in my community; the sheer chance of running the gauntlet. General Comments: Hooray! Good luck to everyone else! |
