| Anyone sending in additional information for waitlist? If so, what?
I'm not sure if this is even worth it; I feel like the only reason I want off the waitlist is to turn it down and say screw u harvard, I'm going to MIT (IAP rocks). |

| According to The Crimson, they may be taking more students than normal off the waitlist this year. They accepted 110 fewer students this year than last as a result of uncertainty about their yield, and they plan to go to the waitlist to fill the class if the yield isn't higher than it has been in recent years. The Harvard Crimson :: News :: College Admissions Rate Drops to 7.1% Quote:
Recent financial aid initiatives at Harvard and other colleges, as well as Harvard’s elimination of early action, made it particularly difficult for the admissions office to predict how many students would enroll this year, according to Dean of Admissions and Financial Aid William R. Fitzsimmons ’67.
As a result, Harvard accepted fewer students to avoid over-enrolling its freshman class, Fitzsimmons said.
Fitzsimmons said that the admissions office might be relying more than usual on the waitlist—which numbers in the “many hundreds”—to fill up the Class of 2012.

| Note -- that's only if fewer than 1670ish students accept the offer of admission. |

| Can I accept being on the waitlist at more than one school? (I was waitlisted at Harvard and Brown).
And furthermore, should I send them any additional information? I won a few more awards and am considering reminding them that I'm multiple-generation legacy...I don't want to sound stuck up and offend the AdCom, but I'm willing to do anything for even a .001% chance at Harvard.
Thanks =) |

| Also waitlisted. Rejected from Stanford, in at MIT. I'll either end up at MIT or Rice (which is giving me 24k/year and a chance at their 8 year med program) |

| Tokabeach: Yes. You can be on the WL at more than one school. Yes, you can send in additional information. I would not remind H that you are a multiple-generation legacy. I'm sure that they know that fact at this point! |

| If you are one of those people who got into yale or stanford or the like and you know you would not go to harvard even if you get off the waitlist, it would be considerate of you to decline the waitlist. (I'm saying this out of desperation.) but will it really matter? if someone declines after getting off the waitlist, they'll just have to take another off the waitlist right? |

| John, it won't really matter to be honest. For your second question, nope -- not really. There is no hard and fast rule that there has to be 1675 in the freshman class. It really ranges. If the yield is what they predict it to be, I don't think anyone's gonna get off the WL, esp. due to the housing crunch! |

| Waitlisted at Harvard, in at Yale (EA), Princeton, and Brown. Funny how the harvard waitlist trumped the elation of the 3 others quite soundly |

| Remi, with all due respect, and I'm sure you know this -- you've been accepted to three of the top colleges in the world, much less just the nation. You are in a good place! Sometimes, I feel like the college admissions process ends up being a "who can get the most trophies" game -- when it should not be.
Remi, you have done very well, and I am sure you'll do well wherever you decide to go. |

| I am waitlisted as well...I am having a serious dilemma about waiting it out. It seems like there is an insane number of people on the list. In a way, I just want to accept the fact that I am going to Dartmouth and move on without the lure / false hope of Harvard hanging over my head. |
