On location I am only willing to say northeast at this time. My son did send a letter to admissions in April expressing continued strong interest in Harvard and stating any of his accomplishments since the application. Of course I don't know if the letter made any difference.

My understanding is that last year for the waitlist Harvard notified acceptances by phone call and rejections by regular mail letters.

I wonder how many people got phone calls today? Are they calling in order of desire or just have a list of people that will take several days to call. I can't imagine that they called 200 people today.

I hope 200 calls isn't feasible. But it definitely is, given the number of people working in admissions. Average about 2 minutes per phone call... definitely feasible. I mean, they "read" almost 30,000 applications (assuming they didn't weed some out based on SAT score or something stupid). However, I don't think they called 200 people today. We would have heard more people telling us of their acceptances today than we have... Also, I'm pretty sure they'll be deliberating for a little bit longer in committee.

I certainly HOPE they didn't call everybody today.

Hi, I'm new to the forum but have been watching it for a couple weeks now, and am a harvard waitlistee. Anyways, can anyone confirm if a call is the only way to be accepted, or are there letters of acceptance sent out as well (since the crimson article made it seem like that). Also, is the end of this week the time when everyone finds out? (im not impatient/anxious AT ALL)

I doubt all 200 calls were made today. The many hundreds on the WL for Harvard right now are probably so diverse and talented that the admissions people are still deliberating on whom to accept and such. At the very least, the Harvard people have a sense of humour and will slowly leak out the acceptances for dramatic effect.
