| So, what is April Preview going to be like?
What is the April Preview weekend going to be like? Do we HAVE to go to all of the events? Are there events other than the ones in the schedule we got with the acceptance letter, such as department open houses and such? Is there going to be time to explore Harvard Square and stuff? |

| The events are all optional. I don't know about department open houses, but I know ads for Eleganza 08 have been put up on the Facebook group... the Harvard Dems and Harvard Republicans have also advertised on the Facebook group, so I imagine a lot of student groups will have booths and the such open | |

| Last year I think my son spent most Saturday afternoon playing board games with the Sci fi club and then watching/dissing The DaVinci Code with with the same group in the evening. Just about every EC had some sort of info session or activity. They had various symposia where students or faculty talked about various aspects of the school or their research. There were museum tours, campus tour, athletic facility tours, library tours. There was an ice cream bash, late night socializing, an a capella concert. And of course on Monday you could visit classes and department offices. You couldn't possibly go to all the events. Some of them overlap.  | |

| Definitely a better idea to spend time meeting people + going to the few events that really seem interesting, than trying to run around and go to everything. (This is actually incredibly good advice for freshman year as a whole!) | |

| I'm actually hosting this year, and I attended prefrosh weekend last year, so hopefully I can answer your questions. I went to the events that seemed most interesting or relevant to me--they give you a huge packet of every event at the beginning, so be sure to go through and mark down which ones you want to attend. Be sure to go to social stuff in addition to academic stuff--some of my friends here actually met during prefrosh weekend at their regional get-togethers. Also, don't be afraid to ask your host or random students any questions you have-we're more than happy to answer! I would also explore outside of the scheduled events--I wandered around the campus and got lost a million times last year, but it was good because I saw a lot that helped me decide to go to Harvard.
As for hosts contacting you, the admissions office sent us emails over the weekend letting us know that we should be getting our prefrosh information any day now. I know I'll be sending mine an e-mail, and my host did the same for me last year, so they should be contacting you just to let you know sleeping situation, etc. | |

| bummer, my son has to miss the weekend because he's doing a scholarship competition. It was too late to cancel, he wanted to so that he didn't miss the weekend. Everyone going, have fun! | |

| If there are any events where some of the a capella groups are performing, definitely go. Most of Harvard's singing groups are outstanding. | |

| ThetaCheese, the regional mixers take place mostly in freshman common rooms I think, where they just sort of throw everyone from your region into a room. For example, mine was for the mid-Atlantic states (yeah, stupid way to divide it haha cause there are soo many of us). Definitely go, though...I know people who met at their regional mixers who are still friends today! And I agree with coureur, Harvard a capella is amazing, they usually have a freshman jam with a lot of the groups performing, so go to that too! Let me know if you want any more recommendations.

Oh, and will we be able to drop off our stuff at the admissions office at registration? I want to run to an open house, and the timing is a little tight, so I don't know if I'll have time to meet with my host to drop off my stuff... | |
