College Boxes delivered my stuff 1) to the wrong room on the wrong floor 2) on the wrong day! 2 days before I even got back to Cambridge, my stuff had been delivered to someone else's room! I had to move it down one floor and to correct room myself. Instead of following my instructions for when and where to deliver, they followed the house manager's, even though he was not the one who contracted with or paid them! Last year I used Fetch Storage, which did an excellent job, but doesn't provide boxes - you have to get them yourself from Fed-X or Staples, but Fetch is good service and reasonable.
miakoukla, thanks for sharing your experience with the 2 storage companies on this forum. I had sent a pm to guitars101 and her son had a wonderful experience all 3 yrs with Collegeboxes. I am not sure if my D has already contacted Collegeboxes.
1moremom - I just love this ^^^ - so incredibly cute
MOVING HELP - Radcliffe Rugby is offering their services as a fundraiser. From The Crimson Flyby section:
The Harvard-Radcliffe Rugby Football Club bypassed traditional forms of fundraising by creating a method of raising money unique to their athleticism: moving. Calling themselves "Radcliffe Movers," members of the Women's Rugby team will work in groups of two and three people to assist students as they move boxes and furniture out of their dorms and into house storage facilities. "We get off-season lifting workouts, you get your stuff moved," reads the tagline on the Radcliffe Movers sign-up form.
This is the first time that the Women's Rugby Team has offered their help in moving students out of their dorms, and 32 undergraduates have already purchased moving assistance by signing up on the Radcliffe Movers google form that circulated over House and organization email lists this weekend.
The Radcliffe Movers will begin their work on Monday, May 7, and continue moving items through Friday, May 10. They'll be charging $20 for the first hour and $10 for each additional hour of labor. About two-thirds of the rugby team's 35 members has volunteered time to help out with the moves.
Forgive me if I am asking an obvious question, or one that has already been answered, but what is the attire (for parents) for commencement week activities, specifically Class Day (Wednesday 23rd) and Commencement Exercises (Thursday 24th).
Nikiwe, Last year, my wife and I were in "business casual" attire for both class day and commencement. And I can tell you that others ranged from very casual - jeans - to very formal. As I mentioned in a previous post, the sun was brutal and I would highly recommend sunscreen and/or a hat.
msmdad, I would also like info on the PBK exercises. Wow, I can't believe the time has come for our son to be graduating. It has been the fastest 4 years of my life... in the blink of an eye, they're not kidding!
Congratulations to all the graduates and their families
If anyone else could give out any words of wisdom for next weeks activites, please do so. it's greatly appreciated!
With a nod toward guitars, my "words of wisdom" would be to prepare for rain! Checking the weather report for Cambridge is a bit disheartening. It shows a period of showers from Monday to Friday (but it should be nice on Saturday). Nonetheless, I am looking forward to the week and I hope to see some of you during the festivities.
