  • Volunteer/Community service: tutoring, conservation, political stuff
  • Summer Activities: mostly travel / work
  • Essays: common app one was about my political work, optional one was about volunteer on a Catholic mission trip in France (I'm not Catholic)
  • Teacher Recommendation: one was mindblowingly amazing and she cried reading it to me, and the other was probably just ok
  • Counselor Rec: I'm notunsure… but pretty decent I’m assuming. I don’t think she’s very intelligent and she’s been unsupportive of my reach schools, but I know she respects me a lot and wrote about my personal initiative and passion for learning, which is the most important thing.
  • Additional Rec: -
  • Interview: was alright. very organic conversation with a graduate from the business school, he was extremely encouraging and we got political. I liked it...
Other
  • State (if domestic applicant): NC
  • Country (if international applicant):
  • School Type: midsize public, kind of average. most people go to state schools or stay in the south.
  • Ethnicity: URM
  • Gender: F
  • Income Bracket: high
  • Hooks (URM, first generation college, etc.): URM, moved around a lot
Reflection
  • Strengths: extracurricular political work
  • Weaknesses: test scores, GPA. essay? not sure.
  • Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: probably because I distinguished myself but just didn't get lucky enough to be accepted!
  • Where else were you accepted/waitlisted/rejected: rejected at Princeton, waitlisted at Georgetown, accepted at Stanford, WUSTL, UChicago, UPenn, and UNC Chapel Hill (possibly with full scholarship, honors college)
General Comments: I'm content. I wish I'd gotten in, and I'm not sure if I'll stay on the waitlist, but hey. It's an accomplishment on its own. CONGRATS TO EVERYONE WHO GOT IN. I'm over the moon about Stanford so I really am just happy right now.
