Wharton or Harvard ?

How does Wharton Undergrad compare with Harvard College ?

If we are looking at business only I am curious as to which school has the advantage.

Does one school have better placement to BB IB firms than the other ?

Does one school feed into private equity better ?

Does one school feed into hedge funds better ?

Does one school produce more management type folks while the other produces entrepreneurs ?

Are the students at both schools relatively academically equal ?

Discuss.

My Ivy senior is currently in the midst of his job seach and has been attending lots of small group and large group interview sessions at various firms. He is mostly interviewing for investment banking and financial consulting jobs. Since his younger sister may also major in econ and is trying to decide where to attend next year, my son has been paying close attention to which schools he sees represented the most. He said he was very surprised to have never encountered a single Wharton senior. (did meet one Wharton MBA though) Not that they might not be there, but he hasn't run into them. He says he sees Harvard, Princeton, Cornell, Columbia, and Wellesley students the most. This is completely unscientific, but I thought I'd throw it out there.

Harvard doesn't have an undergraduate business school to my knowledge. And if it does, it's not ranked within top 100 according to Newsweek. So in terms of business, Wharton has the definite advantage.

TheGFG, perhaps that is because unlike the other schools you mentioned the firms recruit directly at Wharton's campus instead of the Wharton kids going to them ? I know as a matter of fact that many of the firms that recruit at Wharton recruit at Harvard though so Harvard students presence at those forums is kinda hard to explain, given my theory. Perhaps they were Harvard kids who previously had no interest in banking or something and wanted to get to know the field better or something ?
