Work Experience
Political intern (40 hour work weeks - 12 weeks) came up with super duper policy proposal. Discussed proposal with Prof. at Yale law school who was part of the Clinton Administration. Got a letter of recommendation from a TIME 100 political leader - world famous Al Gore's friend. Also got letter of recommendation from CEO of boutique investment firm who was very impressed with my work.
The "policy proposal" i made is a derivative. It basically lifts from some existing derivatives and applies it to a new industry in a novel way. So i kinda made my own derivative. The CEO of the boutique firm got excited about that and offered to write my rec. As did the political people i was working for. I also showed a former president of goldman sachs my derivative and he said it was 'a good idea" He is an alum of my school. It took me 6 months to make the bloody thing hopefully it'll all be worth it come December 11th.

It's looking really good. School rigor is off the charts, since it's most likely a prestigous private east coast prep. Even though your GPA is low and your SAT is low your URM status will make up for it.

u cant assume that prestigous private each coast prep schools r rigorous (although i dont doubt urs is)
many these days are paid-A's
as long as you maintain your payments at some schools, you can keep retaking exams, etc.

You mustn't assume such things about the OP's high school.

As an attendee of one of the top 5 private high schools in USA myself, I am glad to see another person from a nice institution. Anyways, what troubles me the most is your GPA. A 3.7 Weighted is just too low. That concludes that you have a some C's and many B's in classes.
Regardless of how prestigious your school is, too many C's is simply unacceptable. Even Phillips wouldnt be able to send its kids to HYPSM if they got like 4 C's

Jason - thanks for catching that.... I thought the 3.7 was an unweighted GPA. My mistake.

Just a heads up, Harvard doesn't have a finance major, the closest you can get is Economics, which, really isn't that close.

Sorry, my mistake, my GPA it is unweighted. I don't believe my school even gives weighted grades.
Last year i had Bs and B +s this year i have straight As and a B . I have never had a b - or lower in my life. I assure you, no top school has paid grades. I know a billionaire's kid who got some very low grades here despite his dad being on the board of governors. Your wealth and social standing have zero relevance to your academics here.
Yeah, i made a mistake when i was cutting and pasting my resume i meant to change it to econ - though MIT offers some classes in finance that you can cross register for. I am also aware that you do not need to take any specific major to get into finance from Harvard so really what I want to study is not my main concern, it's getting in. I am most interested in studying finance and legal studies (which is why i love Wharton as you do finance at Wharton and can take classes at PENN law school as an undergrad) but i also love economics History and English and economics that Harvard does offer.
I am not sure whether this has any relevance but my father attended Harvard for grad school and was a teaching fellow.
