I don't know. Mine was about 600 words.

Probably keep it around the 600~700 mark, like most college essays. Mine was just under 500 because I recycled a Yale essay which had that recommended limit.

I wonder what percentage of people did an optional essay. I'm guessing most...

mine was only 430, but I never bothered to check before now.
