I know that Mudd's engineering/math/physical sciences are top-notch but I haven't really heard that much about their Biology program and offerings. Can anyone give their input on how strong Harvey Mudd's Biology program is for someone thinking about graduate studies?
In my personal opinion, I do not believe that HMC has the greatest biology program. It isn't bad at all (I mean, it is very good) but I'm sure you can find a program that doesn't have so many non-biology requirements.
Actually, from a research point of you I would say Mudd's program is very good for biology. It would, however, just be horrible for medical school. Nowadays, with the emerging importance of biophysics and mathematical biology, a biology undergraduate education with our math/physics requirements is becoming more desirable.
Thanks for your guys' thoughts. I guess I should have mentioned that I'm not particularly interested in med school. I was just worried that if I ended up going to Harvey Mudd and steered toward biology that I would regret choosing Mudd.
It depends if you wouldnt mind taking classes like :
Introduction to Special Relativity and Quantum Mechanics
Introduction to Engineering Systems
Mudd will give you a broad education as well as a pretty good science one in any field you like, as long as you dont mind a cut to your GPA. Also, remember that biology is our least popular major, which has its good and bad points as you could imagine.
Finally, lol at typing 'research point of you' instead of 'research point of view'
