Chance at HMC?

I was wondering what my chances of getting into HMC were. Here's my stuffity-stuff

Gpa: 4.35/5 (weighted) I know this is my weakspot
Sat: 2310 (800M, 800W, 710R)
SatII: Math I 790, Math II 800, Physics 760

Reccomendations: fantabulous!
Essays: fantabulous!

Extracurrics:
Robotics club, 3 years
Academic Bowl, 1 years
MTG club, 3 years, president
I'm doing the Harvard-Mit math tournament right now
3 years Russian drama class
play the violin

so whadjatink? Do I have a statistically significant shot?

Oh wow. Your gpa is a 4.35. You're a moron.

Seriously? You have a great GPA. You're fine, ACADEMICALLY. Drama and Violin is pretty cool.

Just relax.

thats 4.35 out of 5. That translates to about a B average taking honors courses at my school....however this is due largley to my sucky freshman year, during witch I had a 4.0 (B-) average.

ahhh, gotcha. I thought by out of 5 you were counting the extra point ap classes weigh on, like a 5.0(A in an AP) vs. 4.0(A)

Even if your GPA is low, your scores are amazing, and private schools definitely look at the person as a whole. i suggest doing an interview if you can. Maybe bring up the gpa in a side note on ur ap. Do you have a good reason why your grades were lower?

I don't really have a good reason why my GPA is so low. Mainly its because I really didn't care about my grades as, at the time, I was 100% satisfied with the prospect of going to my state school because I didn't understand how financial aid worked until semi-recently. And my parents never put ANY amount of pressure on me EVER, so I didn't have the advantage of external motivation. Too bad neither of those are good reasons. However, I am capable of getting straight A's (as I am this term, in a last-dtich attempt to impress colleges), and am sure I'll be able to do awesome at college
