Okay, so everything about Haverford seems perfect, and I plan on applying ED, but I just have some lingering questions about the social scene:
-I've heard that a lot of people at Haverford don't do anything on the weekends. I'm not really a drinker or crazy partier or something, but would you say that if you want to have fun you don't have to try too hard?
-Would you say that the actual college seems to put effort into keeping you guys entertained/helping you out in general?
-Would you say the social scene is more unitive or segregated (I've heard that the sports teams can be like the mini frats- is this true/a negative aspect)?
-How often do you go to into Philly? Is it expensive?

1) HC isn't perfect. Not close to perfect as well... but still a remarkable place.

2) Have you checked out the calendar of events? Gives you an idea of college sponsored events at the school. Check out BMC's activities calendar as well.

3) The sports/clique issue is overblown. You generally keep company with those people with similar interests, but HC is much too small and students have too many varied interests to keep solid cliques. An athlete may also be a fine arts major, play a musical instrument, or have many other passions than sports. People aren't accepted because of one thing... that won't cut it. They generally are multi-faceted with admissions thinking they are interesting on many levels.

4) Going into the city is not an issue. It seems to depend more on your own initiative and free time and if something isn't already occuring on campus. It's about a 10 minute walk to Septa station from Founders and about a 20 minute train ride to Center City? Check out the septa website to see prices and schedules... trains normally run 2x an hour.

It's great to hear that cliques aren't much of an issue and I hadn't thought of checking Bryn Mawr's calendar too. Thank you!

Not an issue to tap into BMC's resources. In fact, I would recommend it even if you found every desired class at HC. I think it's psychologically healthy to head over there from time to time as any LAC can feel small in a year or 2. Nice to explore a new place, meet new people and get out of a routine. At HC, you have the benefit of a small community feel but the opportunities, both academic and social, of a school twice its size if you want it... and Philly.

At a place like HC, cliques are only an issue if you make it into one. There are groups that hang out and have meals together but it isn't like high school or a bad teen movie. There is seriously nothing keeping you from getting to know anyone at place like HC except the limits you place on yourself.
