Ugh I just got back my first quiz for Precalc H BC

41/50.

My teacher keeps trying to tell us that and 80 or above is very good in this class, but none of us are buying it.

Nice, bio! By the way, how's self-studying Latin going? The idea intrigued me when you first brought up and I've been mulling over doing the same as of recently.

My physics grade doesn't want to budge from a B+. Other than that class my grades are going well. Gotta do more community service though.

Hi Evan . Not too much- just finished up an essay re-write & about to make some food and do some other stuff. How are you?

@ATP: I've wanted to take Latin since I was little, but my school doesn't offer it :/.

@Muta: Do you like physics? It's the one branch of science I don't like...

@ATPmolecule

I'm currently in Honors Latin III. So far it's a difficult challenge but I like the course.

Congrats biovball! I start my math class tomorrow.

Do you guys still have time to read/have recommendations? I've decided I'm going to take time out to de-stress everyday (in a productive fashion ;D ) so I want to get back into reading.

Sadly no, I basically have no time to read, though I am hoping to catch up a bit over thanksgiving and winter break. Um, not sure what genres you read, so here are some random recommendations...
- Freakenomics (or the sequel if you already read it)
- 13 Reasons Why
- The Maze Runner
- Dinner at the Homesick Restraunt

I read Freakenomics and Maze Runner and really liked them, Maze runner more so for the plot than characters.

I have Thinking Fast and Slow but I can't get into it. :S

It's weird but sometimes I feel awkward reading YA fiction. I used to read so much in middle school/elementary/even Frosh year and now I just feel strange when I do it, maybe cuz no-one around me really reads.

oh well! Thanks for the suggestions and I'll definitely check out the other two as well

If you enjoy 400 year old satire, Don Quixote is worth a look (if you haven't read it already). Other than that:

Fiction - Babel-17, Cat's Cradle, The Yiddish Policemen's Union

Non-fiction - Mortality (Hitchens), Joseph Anton (I have yet to read it, but I'm hearing rave reviews from well-seasoned Rushdie fans and critics alike).

I just finished reading "A Clockwork Orange." It was kind of bizarre yet fantastic.

I wandered around the house with excess restless energy after I finished it, wanting to do something reckless. Maybe that's a side-effect from reading too much Burgess.

Someone recommended a book called "Infinite Jest" as one of the best books they have ever read in their life. That intrigued me enough to put it on my reading list, although I've been warned that it's really, really, really long.
