@tofugirl, a 193 is good, though it depends where you want to go to college. For an ivy it is very low, for a public state school that will be a bit on the high end, it is basically all relative.
I have basically given up getting national merit, as long as a pull a 200-205 I will be happy. I am just horrible with the writing section (I am rather horrible at grammar). Oh well, are most of you guys aiming for national merit?

I'm not aiming for national merit - I'm just seeing where I land, like last year. I use the PSAT more to just see where I am without much preparation work. I'm a junior this year - so I would "qualify" - but I don't think once they get past scores (if I scored high enough) would I qualify further !

I'm definitely aiming for National Merit. I have to get above 220 here in VA to be safe. I took a practice test today and got a 232, so I think I should be fine.

I'm aiming for NM.
Question for you all: Do we have to name a first choice school when we take the PSAT?
I'm asking because I read elsewhere on CC that many schools offer substantial aid for NM students that indicate that the said school is their first choice. Do the UC's do this? If I put Cal there, would I be wasting an opportunity?

^ I don't think the UCs give out any scholarships for NM. Your best bet in California would be USC, which gives half tuition scholarships to all NM Scholars.

So I take it I need to report a first choice?
Maybe I'll do USC. The thing is I want to do either finance in the US or international business(Asia). Hence Berks because of Haas and its reputation in Asia.
Any other reccomendations? How about CMC?

I'm not taking the PSAT again, I took it as a sophomore and bombed it, so I don't plan taking it lol.

Update: I received an alert for the NCI Student Cancer Research Internship and I'm so excited because I've been waiting for this since 9th grade. I really want to do Cell and Development and Signaling or the Chemical Biology research studies. I'm also really terrified that I won't get in because it's highly competitive. I swear if I don't get in, I'm going to cry lol.
@hello I'm taking AP Chem too and also plan on taking the Chemistry Subject Test, and my teacher said that it's best to start early and make sure you know your concepts and equations more than anything.
