I can't wait until marching band is over. It's twice a week for three hours, but practice doesn't start 'til 5 so I end up staying after school for two hours and then practicing for three. When it's all said and done, I don't get home from school until 8:30. We also have football games every Friday which wouldn't be that bad if our team would win for once... And then we have competitions every other Saturday.
Academic team is starting tomorrow and I'm a bit nervous because we have tryouts to see who makes varisty and jv.

Up until now I've been lurking college confidential and I thought I was the only freshmen that went on here.. Glad to know I'm not alone.
Anyway, yeah I like high school much better than middle school, but it's definitely a lot more work. I managed to get straight A's for the first quarter, hopefully I can keep it up.

Does your school count Coursera? I really want to, I signed up for a few, but my counselor says that I need transcripts for it to count for college :/

Do you think edX will count? The professors grade each homework and they do give out a letter grade, but it doesn't show up on your certificate (if you get one).
@rykun97 I'm so jealous you found a place to volunteer at that will accept you for your age! Most places here is you have to be atleast 16, and you have to be 18 without parent supervision. I called a local hospital the other day and they said I had to be 14. For a split second, I thought I was already 14.

For all of you 2016ers wondering where to volunteer, try a food pantry...I started volunteering at one in the summer after 7th grade...or was it 6th?

@FoodLover thanks! Yeah I think we're all a little crazy for being this crazy about colleges this early. Well at least I think I am.
^And another volunteering opportunity is at the hospital. For those interested in the medical field, another benefit for volunteering there is that you can see what some of the jobs they do there are like..

Ugh, I applied for a volunteering job at the museum of science, but they said they had no positions available? They told me to submit my application again early December. They didn't even /look/ at my application.
The clubs at my school are reallly inactive too. I'm only in four clubs; Model UN, Instrumental, Anime Club, and Creative Writing Club. I might join a couple of other clubs too. I also am in the process of conducting research too, which will consume most of my free time because of the one hour commute to Boston. I really really want to create my own science club though....
By the way, do you guys know of any scholarships/competitions we freshies can do? Academic competitions, essay competitions, heck even poetry writing. Excluding Intel MSEF, Olympiad stuff, etc. Links and info would be greatly appreciated ^__^

Always have to do the work for the freshmen....you all should learn to do it for yourselves . Haha, glad to help. Check for some local stuff, I entered a local writing contest in 8th grade and won $100, and it`s open for all middle and high schoolers. See if there`s something local.
Anyways, here: https://bigfuture.collegeboard.org/s...earch#!welcome
Fill that out, and it`ll give you a customized list.
