Wow, you guys seem to all be really athletic. Except for Catsby lol. All of your guys' ECs are so good. You all seem so involved already. The only things I'm interested in are debate, political stuff (I would give my right arm to be a Senate Page), and student film festivals. Lame in comparison hah

@Swinter and Catsby - I'm not athletic either! I used to be, swam and played basketball for the school. But then I got pretty bad asthma, and now I usually sit out the long distance runs (okay not that long) during PE and everything. And though I pass PE I bet I'm somewhere near last, which is quite surprising given how athletic I used to be.
@Catsby - Yup I'm into Math/Science things as well. Next year I'm going to do science research at a local university, plus I do AMC and local math competitions as well. This year I just hit 100 for AMC and made like 15 marks of careless mistakes (like I got questions #2 and #3 wrong) so hopefully I get AIME next year (and dare I even dream that next or next next or next next next year I'll do USA(J)MO? Hopefully) I might start Science olympiad next year but it takes so much work to even prep for one olympiad I doubt I'd have time to do two (or more) well.
@Swinter - My ECs aren't that amazing either. I don't do sports, and play piano only for leisure. I do a bit of science research and math olympiads but I'll never make it big or even get Top 30 in our (very small) country. And I'm also in our Current Affairs Club where we organize some related activities for the school (like mini-MUNs, invite political leaders to events, etc.) and also school newsletter. And I volunteer - really passionate about that but it's nothing big. I'm a Student Leader and we organize some events for school (like Teachers Day, Freshman Orientation). And that's it! Nothing amazing and not that many things either.
Also it's only been 2 days into our 2-month long holiday and I'm bored already. I volunteer for about 1.5 days a week, and I've got piano lessons. Rest of the time I'm either online or going out with friends. Still that won't last - Facebook gets boring pretty quick.

The only somewhat science thing I do is the regional science fair and Knowledge Bowl if you count that. Other than that, I also do debate and Model UN. I'll be doing Speech in the spring.
Anyone else here do debate? I've got a meet this Saturday on the drug war.
Also, how do you think the election will turn out?

@KingshukR: I'm mad because I won't be able to stay up until 2 a.m. in the morning to see the results for the election...oh well. It'll be all over the papers tomorrow! I think voter turnout was/is pretty heavy this year. My mom and I waited for 1 hour to vote. What about you guys?

@KingshukR I'm in debate. I've got a tournament this weekend. It's on the new resolution, the health care one. Are you an LD or policy debater?

A warning to you 2016ers, political debate is a no-no, and could get your thread locked up. The 2015 thread got a warning a while back. Even though you technically aren`t "debating", it`s still political talk.
@foodlover...I heard a lot of absentee ballots and mail-in votes had something wrong on it, so they`re having to do it by hand, so it may be 10 days before we find out. Like 2000 all over again...

@Naomistar251 yeah I'm gonna do spring track. I'm actually pretty decent at cross country and by the time I'm a senior I wanna be really good.

No, I'm trying to take AP Bio or Chem sophomore year, but I'll have to take Chem I next semester, and the class is currently full. My guidance counselor told me to contact her in December to see if a spot opens up. Fingers crossed.
Also made it on the Sci Oly team. I'm the team leader for Remote Sensing, which I don't really care for, but at least it's a leadership position. Other than the leaders we haven't decided on the members for each event, but I'm currently a candidate for astronomy (probably won't get it) and rocks/minerals (likely).

Anybody here's looking to do World Scholars' Cup next year? We went this year totally clueless because the old teacher quit and we got a new one who had a month of National Service and basically we didn't even know the format of the test when we went in. Got 4th National (Globals qualifying) but the school doesn't let any teams other than Top 2 go for international competitions - and it's an all round rule. Anyway hopefully (hopefully!) we make it next year now that we know what it's about and might get some training and stuff.
