We all know it, but we don't really talk about it that much. However, it was played at the father-daughter dance last week, and everyone started dancing to it lol.

My school is obsessed too. The other day, my World History teacher put it on when we were done with the lesson and we all did the dance and two kids videotaped it on their phones. It was a lot of fun.
And my Spanish teacher put it on during class too, but I'm not sure why.

I'm pretty sure there is a flashmob planned sometime this week to Gangnam style. In other news, this is my last week of school before fall break. and Friday is my first debate tournament. Totally not ready but out of the 40 novices that will be there 9 are from my school. They entered all the novices (without asking us, mind you) and they're assuming we've got a 1/4 chance of winning some awards haha.
Anyway the quarter almost being over also means that my grades are basically set in stone. No drastically changing it now. I was kind of disappointed to see that my lowest grade is a 94 in bio. #onlyonCC

Yeah, I never thought I would be one of those kids who complained about high grades and it's not like I complain, I'm just kind of disappointed. Of course, the only place I can admit it is here because anywhere else people would just call me some crazy try hard.
Science is like my worst subject and I have not gotten an A on any tests this year. In fact, the 86 that I received on the last test was the highest I've gotten so far. The only things keeping me in the 90 range are my classwork, projects, homework, etc.

I definitely see where you're coming from. Especially with the test thing. Same thing happened with my Geometry class last year (depending on homework and stuff).
At least it's not like the kid who was upset because he got a 99.5% on a test.

How are you guys' math classes. I did pretty good in Algebra last year, but I'm struggling with honors geometry this year. It sucks that I have to actually study.

^My Geometry class is by far my easiest class. And I'm not a math person, either...
I had a little bit of a rough first two weeks, but it's been a month and it's settled into more of a routine. I'm still definitely not in love with my high school, since it's nowhere as rigourous I'd like, but I can imagine myself surviving until graduation.
I'm actually quite surprised at how nice the people at school are- not just fellow freshmen but upperclassmen, too. They might not be the brightest and the best, but they hold doors open for you, haha.
Question for y'all: how easy is it to start a club/group/organization at your school? I'm attempting to do that for a competition team at mine, and nobody (especially not a freshman) does that very often.

My math class is going great. It's good to be back to algebra. Hated geometry. I've got a 97 in that class so I'm content.
I actually really like my school. I truly believe that we're the best public high school in the state. The school has gorgeous architecture, awesome facilities, offers AP and IB, and everyone here has so much school spirit. I love it. As usual, we're an underfunded public school and that kind of sucks for academic clubs that compete (for example, I'm in debate and we don't even have a coach) but we make do. It's a really diverse school - probably at least 60% of the population is low income or a minority. The upperclassmen are super nice and always willing to offer advice or help out.
I don't really know how hard it is to start a club. We have a few inactive clubs that I plan to revitalize though. |

I hate my math teacher. He gets off topic wayyy to much. Like sometimes, he'll be writing a question on the board and he'll ask if we've seen the latest episode of "..." precalc isn't that hard, but he just makes it so confusing.

Back again, finished a couple of papers today, and two more weeks of finals to go.
For Math, we do some sort of "spiral approach" here, meaning we do a mishmash of geometry and algebra every year. This year - 8th - wasn't really hard, we started with indices, partial fractions, functions and graphing, did circles, a bit of trig, and a bunch of other stuff. The math teacher is okay and I don't do the homework at all - don't think I'll be able to get away with that next year though - 9th Grade is supposed to bring this great jump in math standard. And if I get into the advanced Math class for next year it'd be even more hardcore.
Is anybody here going to do Math Olympiad? Like AMC and stuff? Each year I vow to practice but never got round to doing it, hoping next year I actually would try - if I have time, that is. 9th grade is supposed to be the hardest year ever here (in our 7-10 school). Everybody starts sleeping in class all the time and it gets pretty bad, I've heard. Quite apprehensive about it but I guess I should worry about the finals first.

My math class is really easy since I'm in regular Algebra, not Honors. God, I don't even want to think about how I'd be doing right now if I had stayed in Honors. D:
