My school is switching this year from the traditional schedule of having 7 periods in a day to the blcok schedule, with 4 blocks in a day. I was wondering what your opinion was of which one is better for students. It seems to me that block scheduling really limits the amount of AP classes a student can take and makes scheduling so much more difficult because both block courses and "skinny" courses, which are half of a block, really conflict each other.

I think block scheduling is better because you only focus on a couple courses at a time and you can 'double up' in certain courses; for instance, you could take geometry and algebra II in the same year

I am on block schedule and I like it. we have 2 semesters and 4 blocks each semester
Some of our AP classes are only one block while others are year long
Stats, European, Music Theory, US history, english III, environmental, psychology area all only one semester

I'll be a senior in high school so going to the block schedule for my last year is a very big jump! at my school AP classes are all block classes, and they don't offer any AP classes the first semester. Thus, I can only take three AP classes my senior year. I think that block scheduling can be great becuse of the reasons you stated, but my school is doing it differently so it doesn't benifit the students who want to challenge themselves.

My school has daily block scheduling. Mondays are all 7 blocks in half the time. Then Tuesday/Thursday are one set, and Wednesday/Friday are another. The 5th block, which is the block you go to lunch with, is always 50 minutes long.
I like our way since we have the benefits of more in-class instruction and two nights to do homework, but we can still take the same amount of classes as a traditionally scheduled student. I had traditional scheduling in middle school, and I feel like it could only get more stressful in high school.

I love the block scheduling. It gives me 2 days to do every homework assignment.

My school has 7 classes; 4 a day. 1, 3, 5, and 7 are day 1s. 2, 4, 5, and 6 are day 2s. 5th period determines lunch times, is 45 minutes and is everyday. The other classes are 1.5 hours.

My school is on block scheduling. We have 4 classes a day, and the classes run all semester. Second semester we start a new set of 4 classes to finish out the year. I really like it. I was able to take AP Stat and Hon PreCal last year without having to worry about two math assignments in one night, and senior year I'll be doubling up on math again. 90 minutes can be a bit excessive but you get used to it, so it's not terrible.

Which makes it all more confusing! I didn't even know semester scheduling was a thing until CC.

Also, block scheduling is a gift from the heavens. Having 5 classes a day is nice, not having the same classes every day adds some much-needed variety to life, plus you get to really focus and prioritize things. If anything, it teaches time-management.

At out school we have seven classes per semester/year but six periods a day. So a typical week would look like this:

Monday: A B C D E F
Tuesday: A B G C D E
Wednesday: A B F G C D
Thursday: A B E F G C
Friday (short day): D E F G

Unfortunately, a week is rarely ever typical, so we have lots of confusing schedule switching and short days in the middle of the week, etc.

Basically, it's the same two classes in the morning, then rotating between the other five.
