I liked Beijing better. But I have to give London props for the Torch & Mr.Bean though the rest did seem scattered. I'm also not happy with how NBC handled the ceremony, and some of the commentary & such just seemed ignorant. I also hated the digital age that they did, but I'm glad that they gave respect to the founder of the world wide web. And the fireworks & LED stuff was amazing

beijing by a mile, not gonna be matched for another several olympics
| I don't think anyone's going to be able to match what they did.
I really liked the start with Jerusalem and the hymns from the other Home Nations, but that was maybe lost on most Americans (and it didn't help that Meredith Viera talked through the Northern Irish song -_-). The depiction of the Industrial Revolution was also amazing. Quote: |

| This kind of annoys me. It's weird to say that any one person founded the world wide web. He did post the first web page, which is important... I just hope people aren't confusing this for inventing the Internet.

So he wasnt the creator of the world-wide-web, or head of creation or whatever. (not to say he did it alone or anything)

Beijing was much better. Mr. Bean and the fireworks were quite nice, but a good chunk of the ceremony was pretty dull and looked like a history lesson.

J. K. Rowling was involved in the London Olympics, all other arguments are invalid.

London had cool lighting effects.
But idk, I think human control would be more unique. But it's NOT computerized.

I think Beijing was better. London was good and more personal, but Beijing was definitely more thrilling and grand.
I liked how those were actual nurses and mostly volunteers that performed. But the little history lesson did get a bit slow.
Tim Berners Lee and J.K. Rowling were cool though.

I am a Brit. I liked the London opening ceremony, because I thought it told a story and was more personal to Great Britain and their history. We also have significantly less people to pull on than Beijing. However, I loved Beijing in terms of splendor.

I liked Beijing better because it was more action packed and precise. I didn't watch the full London Opening Ceremony, but I felt that some parts didn't really fit in with everything else. I also loved Mr.Bean!!!!!

For those who try to argue that China's opening ceremony wasn't as personal as London's, I beg to differ. China's opening ceremony was extremely personal with ancient traditions like tai chi and playing Confucian drums and by showcasing the history of the dynasties. Just because China's was more grandiose and entertaining doesn't mean it wasn't as personal.

I feel that at an opening ceremony, both are important. Not only being personal, but being grandiose and action packed. I think that Beijing was a combination of both. I liked the London ceremony, but I liked Beijing more. It was also more memorable.

I prefered the Beijing opening ceremonies because it seemed a testament to the world and what we can accomplish than London. The London opening ceremonies were to GB focused to me. I guess you could say that made it more personal, but I didn't like that quality about it.
