My school started offering AP Human Geo for freshmen this past year... of course, I transferred this year as a sophomore, so I missed out on that.

I wish my school had AP Japanese, but hey.
I'm sick of people saying the word "only" when referring to AP offerings. Your "only" makes MANY other schools look horrendous.

Agreed. Of course, I can feel mediocre at school if I let myself. I just have to focus on what I'm good at.
Same about the APs - my school doesn't offer any until Soph year (unless you're a brilliant frosh taking Calc) and then even in Soph there are only a few you can take (Euro OR world, econ, languages) and then in Junior & senior year you are restricted to 5 per year (MAX MAX MAX - if you want 5, they review your schedule and ECs to make sure you aren't overloaded, you have to meet with a counselor, etc), as they don't want kids going crazy.
The problem is is that my school does offer a wide variety of APs even though we can't take them all so the "AP courses taken vs. offered" always sucks for me compared to other CCers.

I find it funny at times where some people go on here so they can brag about their ivy hopes and tell others that the only shot they hav Is to take the hardest courseload and have a ton of EC's. Sometimes it seems like a few people on here just want to say who they're better than. But besides that, no I don't feel mediocre because I know what I alone want to accomplish, and what I alone am going to do to get there.

When it comes to academics, I really don't feel mediocre at all.
I am in control of my education - I pick my classes, I choose whether I want to do my homework or not, I choose to study, and I take my tests. Not my parents, teachers, classmates, or anyone else. If I do well, I celebrate. If I don't, then it's my fault. I really don't have the time to worry about how other people do and when you look at your achievements in context of others, you WILL feel insignificant, even if your own achievements aren't.
so TL;DR: no I don't give a damn about anyone else and I think i'm pretty awesome.

@elleya
I'm not talking about how well I perform or what classes I choose. I control that and I don't care about others.
Its the lack of opportunity in a town of 2,000 that gets to me.

Be glad you don't have a lot of oppurtunity. Be the best your area has to offer. that's who colleges compare you too - they aren't gonna compare you to students who can take 8 aps every year and self study 20 more.

Yeah, I always feel mediocre in school and here on CC. All my friends try really hard to get an A. But I don't really try THAT hard, but still get an A. I don't know how I do this. People I know always write down and take notes on almost everything, but I just write down the most important things. My friends study for more than 4 hours. I only study for 3 hours or less depending on the test that is coming up.
So in general, yes, I do feel mediocre almost all the time, whether if it's comparing my classes to people here on CC or in real life.

@literature, you sound really smart. If anything you should be proud you can make the grade with little study
