Best Advice A Teacher Ever Gave You

Did you ever have a teacher who gave you great words to live by?

Being smart isn't about how much you know, but how much you can know (or something along that line).

All in one conversation:

1. Do what you love, and love what you do.

2. Wear shoes you can walk in.

3. Wear a skirt that covers your ass.

There's plenty more from that same teacher but that's one of my favorite conversations.
(Context: walking down the hallway chatting together, and we watch a girl wearing a teeny skirt almost twist her ankle because of the huge heels she was wearing.)

"Never give up, never surrender!" jkjk that's from a movie. No it was, "Stop raising your hand so much, let other people have a chance." and " *****, there are smarter people then you, so stop showin off!"

Get an agenda. I would have practically died without one my junior year after becoming so swamped with schoolwork and extracurricular activities. It just makes my life so much more organized and manageable, and I rarely forget things. Also, having a clear idea of what needs to be accomplished helps you to figure out the best way to approach it.

1. Question everyone and everything always. Especially question people's motives.

2. It all comes out in the wash.

ALWAYS LOOK BEHIND YOU WHEN YOU LEAVE A ROOM
I haven't lost half as many things as I might have if he hadn't terrified our whole 7th grade class the first day of school by screaming that phrase for 12 minuets.

"Pretend everything in this room is you."

I took a slam poetry class this summer, and I had (have) a terrible time getting up in front of people and speaking. As soon as he said this my anxiety decreased ten-fold and I was actually able to do a decent job performing; it helped me tremendously.

I usually stay off the HS threads; however, I love this one. My favorite teacher told me that if someone doesn't like you, you should be extra nice to them. It drives them nuts.

The best advice a teacher gave me is to not procrastinate.

1. Teachers don't want you to fail- ask for help.
2. Hold on to old papers.
3. Read the required material.

Don't suck up to teachers if you know what's good for you. --- my history teacher. Nobody sucked up to HER--- she got our admiration without ulterior motive, which is the mark of a good teacher.
And as a relative of many teachers, they don't like sucker-ups. (Suck-uppers? Sucker-uppers? HELP!!!) They drive them crazy.

Remember that all actors are liars. Think about it. The better they lie, the better they're doing their job. (This from my high school public speaking teacher who also taught drama.)

This probably explains why to this day celebrity endorsements leave me cold.
