The 2012-2013 AP American Governemnt thread

Hi, sorry if these kind of "year" topics aren't allowed here but I wanted to make this thread because I have AP Gov this year and it's my first (and only) AP class.

So yeah, if you want just use this thread to connect with other people and their AP classes. I.E. what do you do in your AP Gov class? Is all you do is take notes and tests? Is it really rigorous? Really hard? Do you do any campaign projects or something? Do you like the class? How is the teacher? Do you feel confident in taking the AP exam next year? etc. etc.

Well, at my school AP gov is only 1 semester. We have Econ Hon first semester. I can't comment on AP Gov yet.

So far, we have been taking notes every class. It's boring but not that bad. I definitely prefer it over APUSH because I'd rather take notes from a power point in class than spending hours reading a book and taking my own notes. The content, however, is pretty dry and I'd take APUSH over Govt material any day.

My gov class is one semester as well - one sem American Gov, one sem Comparitive.

Right now it's really easy going. A lot less stringent than APUSH, really laid back... more discussion. At least that's how my teacher does it. Not that rigorous yet, but I don't really think it'll be that hard. Right now we're working on a federalism project, analyzing supreme court cases and identifying the states'/fed. government's position on the issues.

My AP Gov class actually is... a little weird sort of. We aren't required to take notes, the teacher gives us a "note sheet" and we can add stuff to it that she says. IMO it's alright, I have a B+ in it. We take a considerable amount of tests, and we have one like 2 days from now.

We also do current events that we have to turn in every Friday. I have a B+ in the class but I feel like if I take the AP Exam next spring I'll only get like a 2.

My AP US Gov class is a full year, and I'm still pretty sure that we're not gonna cover everything in time. It's slack.

I just had a test today and I think I bombed it but hopefully the essay portion saved me because that part was easy.

hmmm I have apgov both semesters . How can you cram apgov in one semester I mean ..what.

The class is pretty boring, the teacher is exciting but the content is blahh. I amuse myslef by staring at classmates faces and laughing with my friend. It's a pretty class, we do this packet, then test, which consists of random frq (related to the chapter) and mc. but I loveddd apush. I love learning about wars! ha

I have a double semester of AP Gov/Politics. It's a fairly easy class besides the essay questions on tests. My teacher is really nice and helpful. He goes over the information and as long as you pay attention and do the work you'll be okay. But if you don't pay attention he doesn't say anything to you he lets you get the grade you deserve.

My teacher complained when she gave us a pre-test and 3 of us scored high enough to get a 4 if the test was just multiple choice (she would think we'd be okay with FRQs if we can get that much right before the class). She was like "What am I gonna teach you if you can already pass the test?"

She was joking. Because the three of us had been able to get around a 70% on the test with just knowledge from DE US History and some simple logic. She's pretty much teaching us how to do FRQs and the We The People competition right now...
