Hi, First time Poster, Long time website surfer!

Being a Sophmore in HS, I have calculated my AP's to take all High School long, I just wanted a little critique on whether its normal or absurd or crazy!

Freshman Year- None

Sophomore Year(now)-
AP World History
AP Psychology
AP Environmental Sci.

Sophomore Summer-FLVS-
2 AP's

Junior Year- 5 AP's

Senior Year- 6 AP's..

Altogether it comes out to 16 AP Classes.. ALOT!!

Another thing- (For Florida People.)-

If a student fails the FCAT, resulting in an Intensive Reading class, which counts for an Elective, do colleges see this as a negative impact?

Is FCAT even on the College Transcript?!

You're a sophomore, so you have to pass this year. I promise it's the easiest test you'll probably ever have to take. The math has stuff like mean, median, and mode. The reading is also a joke. All of the answers are in the passages, you just have to know where to look.

As far as the APs go, don't take APES and AP Psych together. I did last year and I believe that's why I only got 3s on the exams. The rest seem fine.

Also, don't be disappointed if it doesn't work out the way you planned. I thought I'd take 5 APs each year after freshman year, lol. (I ended up with 1 sophomore year, 4 junior year and 2 this year plus 2 college classes)

I think you misunderstood. I am currently a Sophomore in HS. I took the FCAT Read. Last year and got a 2, resulting in taking an Intensive Read. Class this year as a Sophmore.

I cant change my schedule anymore, since the first quarters like about to be done. Did you really study for enviro and psych?

It's perfectly fine to take AP Psyh and AP Enviro. People take two exams in a day all the time. I did it and didn't feel that tired after them, and I passed both of them

It depends on the person then. Some people can handle 6 hours of testing, while others can't. If your school allows you to have a break between exams then you'll probably be fine. Mine doesn't allow lunch in between and you can't take a snack with you. I probably earned the 3 on APES, but I could've easily gotten a 5 on psych had I not been worn out. My responses to the essays were pathetic, but I was so tired by the time I got to them. I just wish someone had told me before I signed up for them both.

Intensive reading is erm, not a good thing, but it seems like you'll be fine because you're making up for it by taking APs. I mean, if you do well on the SAT CR, then I doubt they'll hold intensive reading against you. If you're staying in state, they might value the fcat a little more depending on where you go.

Instead of flooding yourself with AP classes, you should opt to do dual enrollment and take some classes at your local community college or university. They are probably easier than what you would get from your AP classes and the same amount of credits you would receive for passing each exam.

My main concern is that Int. Read, I do plan to go to college in florida.

Florida schools know of the FCAT and its requirements. You're fine. You're taking three ap classes just this year alone. More over the summer and even more in your later years. Nothing to worry about.

Niquii, your response made me feel a little better regarding the FCAT. I still am partly worried though.

Do you know if the FCAT is on the transcript? And when you take an Intensive Reading class, since it counts for an elective, do they put "Elective" for the class name, or Intensive Reading?

I believe it's included but I'm not 100% sure. On transcripts they do put the course title because, otherwise, the college wouldn't know what class you're taking.

Intensive reading is on there. (every class you take in HS is) Your score on the FCAT is not on there. It does say when you passed though. (I've looked at my own official transcript. I ordered too many and just opened just to see.) It doesnt give any information about FCATs prior to 10th grade. It just says, "met or exceeded state assessment standards required for graduation in ____."

It's interesting the random stuff they have other than just grades. Mine had the typical stuff (grades, SATs, classes taken and when, etc), community service hours, vaccine records (mine even showed the fact that I have a medical exemption from them), and speech therapy I received in elementary school. It basically shows everything from Kindergarten to graduation. The only things it doesn't have are the grades from elementary and middle school.
