Cell Phone Question?

Just wondering do you have a Cell Phone (mainly smartphone) and if so did you pay for it and the plan?
I ask this because it is becoming common where i live to see 5th graders with Iphone 4Ss, Galaxy Ss, and even "bad phone" LG Optimus.
My Parents say if i want a phone i have to buy it and pay for the plan. So i dont have a phone.
It always annoys me when some 10 year old says that his Iphone 4 is a piece of junk and that he wishes that he could get the 4S or the 5. Or the ones spending hours playing games online and streaming video and complain about the speeds lagging.
off my semi rant.
So do you have a smartphone and do you pay for it and the plan. Im not really upset that i dont have one because i always see my friends on it when we're hanging out because someone said something funny on his/her facebook wall.
again i need to get off my semi rant

No, I don't have a smart phone. And I don't pay for the plan either.

I just have a normal phone without internet. I can text and call and that's about it, ha. Good enough for me.

Not a smart phone, but will be getting the iPhone (hopefully) when my contract is up. No, I don`t pay for the plan, my parents do.

It is ridiculous that little kids have phones. Especially 5th and 6th graders.

Tmobile pay as you go. Unlimited text + 2000 minutes costs about $250 per YEAR. Add $180 to purchase a Galaxy Exhibit smart phone.

DO NOT get a data plan. You dont need it. Just use wifi. And you dont need to talk forever on your phone just use text.

I have a net 10 phone. 300 "credits" per two months. My mom pays for it.
One minute of talk= 1credit
One text= .5 credit
Internet 1 min= 1 credit

Yeah it sucks...

I have an iPhone 3GS that I got this past Christmas.

I don't have to pay for it, partly because I compromised by picking a free phone, and I also do my 'chores' and yada yada. Plus, my plan (except my data) is tied into my parent's plans and I really don't use any of the minutes and surprisingly, not a lot of the text messaging (which is unlimited). So if it was all about paying my fair share, i'd pay like $20 a month, which is doable, but my mom doesn't ask me to, so I don't.

Oh, and my data is $15/mo. (200MB)

This thread also prompted me to check my minutes...our family has 550, and this month i've used...4. Snort.
(Granted, I haven't had to actually call anyone and it does't include weekend/mobile-to-mobile, but yeah...)

I have an LG Cosmos. Got it for my junior high graduation. My family has a group plan with unlimited text which my parents pay for. The only reason I've got a phone at all is because I commute.
The problem is that Verizon now charges for upgrades which means that even though I'm overdue for an upgrade I'm not getting one unless I pay for it myself and it doesn't have internet access, which limits me to pretty much a DOWNgrade.
And I know, it's crazy when you've got little kids with phones. My cousin is eleven and her classmates have smartphones- I just DON'T GET IT.

I don't pay for my phone but its not a smartphone, nor does it have text/internet.

I don't complain either because I'm not complaining. It is annoying though when people complain about their parents not buying a new phone for them.

I don't have a smartphone....I don't even have text. We use a company so bad that I have to walk twenty yards away from the school just to find signal. I sort of wish I had an iPhone, but the plan for an iPhone is almost as expensive as our entire family plan.

I do but I got it either a year or 2 ago I forgot. But its a Samsung slideout keyboard phone touch screen that's alsome but atfirst I didn't like that it was a touch screen.
Before that I had a keyboard phone like a blackberry but it was a Kyocera. Before that I had a regular slide out keyboard phone and 2 other flip phones.

I lost my very first phone in less than a month in the summer going 7th grade and didn't get a cell phone again until 9th grade.

All phones have been pre paid and somewhat cheap but once its broken/lost you don't get another for free as a replacement.

The phones from my company aren't the best but the plan is fantastic. For me its $25/month now its $35/month for 300 minutes, and unlimited texting/email/internet!
I don't talk a lot on my cell so its great for me but others not so much. There's other plans and I think$60/month is unlimited talking but idk about the internet/email.

~I have Virgin Mobile but some of their phones are identical to Sprint.

Free with service "dumbphone," service for $10 a month on top of my family's plan.

I actually did get mine in sixth grade, because it was actually cheaper for my parents to add a third phone to their plan because we got a family discount. Barely used it then, barely use it now. (Almost nothing then, 3-4 texts and 0-5 minutes of calls a day now. I like real life communication better :P)
