For some reason every time I study for a test or exam I almost if not always do worse on it. I realized this today when i took my AP Calc BC test today. I usually get 85's+ but i wanted to try and get a 100 because in my class 85's are below average. My class only consists of 9 people including myself. I studied all week and before the test. I ended up with a 60 on it. When taking the test i thought I was going to get at least a 90. This has happened to me in many other cases such as my pre calc final, US history regents, and many more i did not get as low as a 60 on those but i did a lot worse than expected. I am just wondering if this is only me or maybe something I'm doing wrong please help me out

1) Are you studying the wrong information?

2) If not, are you studying (for math at least) using the wrong method?

I cannot study for history tests - I almost always do worse when I study for history exams and quizzes as opposed to when I don't. I can't explain it, but I do know that many of my friends experience the same thing.

I say that perhaps just really absorb the material in class, mark up your notes and what not and make sure you walk out of class everyday with a solid idea of what was taught that particular day - and by doing that, you'll avoid possibly confusing yourself or stressing yourself out by cramming or excessive studying.

I memorized all the formulas needed and studied with my friends and I was telling them how to do the problems but then i end up with a 60 and they end up with 90's+
This happens to me so often and I already know i do worse on tests because i get so anxious i literally start shaking while holding the pencil

On the math section for the SAT I received a score of 730 and I did not study a single problem for it

The same has happened to me with math quizzes. I think it's just that I'm so overprepared and I'm so used to practicing with the numbers I'm given on the study guide that I go too fast and make stupid mistakes on the quiz. I don't have a solution for you, but all I can say is you're not alone.

I really hope I can fix it soon because AP Calc is important to me and I really want a 4 or 5 on the AP Exam.

I wrote a song or, well, parody about Calc...it's not very good but I might jut make another one hahah

I was the same way studying for AP Chemistry, I think you're thinking about the concepts way too much. Studying for long periods of time can be bad, you over think the concepts and the things you've learned. Now I study for about 45 to a hour and take a nap or listen to music or tell somebody what I've just read.
