I got a really cool mailing from William & Mary that had all these interesting postcards with gorgeous campus photos and quirky bits of information on them. All printed on really nice, heavy stock paper in an old-fashioned envelope. Loved it, good thing I'm applying!

Kenyon College sends pretty interesting mail - a picture of Sigmund Freud wearing a Kenyon bandana thing, and another had The Starry Night by Van Gogh with the Kenyon campus in the background.

Trust me, you don't want college mail.

U Chicago sent me a book about their school. And a 3x4 (at least) poster. That place hates trees.

For all those asking about the bottle. It was for the st louis college of pharmacy, which makes sense. All it had inside was a note saying "Because of your achievements and interest in heath care you have been picked as a priority applicant. Please contact blah blah to learn more." Yeah it was pointless and dumb. They could have at least put more information about the college in there.

We should compare volumes. I keep all the mail, (700ish letters) so when I am accepted, I will invite CC to watch me burn my stack of paper and roast some New Zealand chocolate.

I'm not sure what I will do with the 800+ emails that I haven't deleted...

@JuniorMint: if I kept them, I'd have about that much. I started getting mail in freshman year (that was the first time I took the PSAT). I only open the ones in a decent location (AKA the northeastern US). The in-state ones go directly in the trash, the ones in the south or west I might look at. Just from this week I think I have 40 or so. It's bad. The only one that has actually convinced me to apply is St John's. (good location, free application "Academic Achievement Application," no essay, they have my major, etc.)

One of my favorites was a harry potter owl themed one from Kenyon. I also appreciate it when colleges send stuff that's helpful for the college/career search not even related to their school, like a cool booklet I got the other day on majors and careers in different areas. I get so much mail I can't possibly keep it all.. so if there's nothing good inside and it isn't in a location that is livable to me, it goes in the recycling bin.

I get UChicago stuff a lot. Made me really like the college because I was always reading about it. They sent me a tshirt that said UChicago on it.

I got flashcards from William & Mary and Brandeis. Swarthmore sent me a DVD.

My dd received the prescription bottle, too, and she thought it was cool - but has no interest in pharmacy! She did think a postcard that had her name on it with pictures of the university inside the letters of her name was cute. The next week, Alabama sent her one like that, too, and it is proudly displayed on our fridge!
