Freshman - College mail

Hi, im a freshman so please don't mock me because don't really know any of this stuff. So I have friends that are sophomores and juniors that get stuff sent to them from all kinds of colleges that want them to apply, what I don't get is how. I tried to ask, but they don't really seem to remember either. From what I hear, they seem to be really annoying, but I kind of want them in-case I get one from an ivy or a school that I really want to go to. Thanks

You get them when you take the SAT/PSAT or ACT if you opt to receive them. They're obnoxious, honestly. As a senior who receives way too much from colleges, trust me, you don't want them. The colleges you like, just put yourself on their mailing lists. They don't send much to freshmen. If you're on their mailing list, the fact that you're a freshman might be why you don't get much.

You go to the colleges of your choice`s websites and click on the "request information" button. Trust me, don`t do it. I asked for information one time last year from a college I actually liked, and I got about 100 pieces of mail from random colleges, most of which I`d never even heard of. I`ve gotten maybe about 4 things from schools I actually might consider, and the rest is from places I don`t even want to attend. And then there are U of Chicago`s little annoying postcards...
