Should i take an AP exam even though I've taken a community college equivalent?

I'm planning on taking General Chemistry/University Physics which are equivalent to AP Chem and AP Physics C. By nature, I'm a cheap person and I REALLY don't want to spend $178 on an exam that I otherwise would've gotten credit for by simply taking a Community college course. If not, would I simply have to test out of the class by some other route? I plan on applying to 1st/ 2nd tier colleges if that helps.

No, I don't think it is necessary for you to take the AP exam-while I was in high school, they'd keep telling us how a final grade in a CC class was the equivalent of an AP test score. However, it would be wise for you to perhaps call and ask the class registrar if the credit transfers over to the institution-normally, this occurs quite often and with ease at state colleges. Good luck!

I mean, why wouldn't you? If you've taken the CC equivilant, you might as well get 2 more other AP Credits 2, so it can benefit you on both sides. Most People ALWAYS take the AP Equivilant.

^ What will getting two more AP credits do for her, though?

I say don't take it.

Check if the colleges you're applying to accept the community college credit. If they don't, take the AP test. Not all will allow you to test out of a class.
