Don't know what to do.. need sone advice!

Hi all,
So here's my issue.. I'm currently in ap world history and.. Lets just say im maintaining a passing grade.. I'm seriously considering dropping down to standard or honors next semester. History is my favorite subject, it always has been. But this year i've dreaded going to the class. I don't feel that i'm really gaining anything from it because we're going through the material VERY fast and it feels like a waste of time because i dont feel i'm taking anything away from the class like I should be. I've always been and A-B student, especially in history, but i've been lucky to stay in the C-D range this semester in this class.

I'm in four dual enrollment classes, and i find those easier most of the time than this class.. Maybe my work ethic isn't good enough. But like i said I really dread attending this class, and i've always loved history, it used to be the best part of my day.

So I'm not sure what this will do to my GPA or how this will look on my transcript. I'm still not sure how I can't keep my grade up in an AP class when I have A's in all my dual enrollment classes.

If I did drop the course could I just self study and take the AP exam in May? That way I didn't feel like I totally wasted a semester..

Sorry if this is too long (I have a tendancy to rant, especially when I don't know what to do about something)

Thank you all in advance for the advice!

AP World History was the hardest ap class I have taken. It was just too much material (I mean, it's the history of the entire world) for a year long class xD.

If you don't REALLY don't enjoy it and have other hard classes, then I would drop to honors. I wouldn't go below honors though, it would probably seem way too easy for you.

You sound like someone in my AP World class - he loves history but he really struggles... and a lot of it has to do with his work ethic. But I do honestly believe a high C or a low B looks a lot better in AP World is better than an A in honors World. IDK, that's what I've always been told by our school officials - we cannot even drop an AP class if we were flunking it. We have to sign a contract.

LOL, in my school, Honors World History is a LOT harder than WHAP, and a lot of kids regret not taking WHAP.

Ok I haven't taken AP world history, but I did take APUSH and if world is harder I sympathize. I would say talk to your teacher and see how you can change your mindset going into the class. AP teachers usually have great strategies for studying and will help if you just ask. If you being your grade up to a solid C or low B, it definitely looks better than an A In an honors class. Colleges look at academic rigor and if you took the hardest classes available to you. You can take the exam, but I wouldn't expect to pass honestly. There are schools that make their students, no matter the course taken, take the AP exams, it's just not probable to score well.
