Take Community College Class

I am thinking of taking Calc 1 at the community college. First of all it will cost about like 400 dollars. That's not too bad. I want to take it because then I after the first semester I could go from Math Analysis to AP Calc BC and also take AP Physics next year. Also then I could take Multivariable Calculus in senior year. Is this worth it? I would able to go to a higher math class and skip physics to go to AP Physics. But I'm worried that my schedule might be too heavy. I'm going to be in AP Chem, AP US History and AP Comp Science. I don't know if I can take two more AP's? So do you guys think I can handle this? That's what I'm really afraid about. I'm thinking of taking Calc II over the summer at Colorado College (because it would be free) and then Calc III and Differential first semester next year (senior year)...

our local community college offers the same thing but they cram things in really quickly over the summer. would you get the same understanding and perform as well in those classes that you wanna take later? i dunno, that's part of the reason why i sorta shied away from doing summer courses too often.

The community college by my high school offered discounted rates for hs students. I personally like community college courses BETTER than AP's. I took poli sci & econ at a community college before my senior year over the summer and easily got A's - so much easier than AP classes would have been. Not only did I get out of taking gov/econ at my high school, but I got the units transfered to the university I ended up at, and got out of two general education requirements because of it. I highly recommend it for anyone.. take your classes at a community college, it's easy!

Hm. That's interesting. The community colleges in my area are available at no cost for high school students (regardless of enrichment or credit purposes). As long as you take a placement test and hold a student ID card, you're good to go.

Back on topic: I do strongly suggest taking classes at a community college. It'll give you more options of taking other classes at your high school. I also agree that community college courses are better than APs (well, I take online classes, so that's just my viewpoint).

I want to take the class. But if I take the class I would be in Calc BC and AP Physics in junior year. Would it just be a waste if I was going to take them in senior year anyway? Thanks

No, no if you wil take further classes in the future. And 3 APs is not that bad-I could see if it was five or more.

Can you explain KMan? If I am going to take the classes anyway should I still do it?
