I've done a lot of research into Piracetam. I'll probably be starting it soon just because it's pretty safe and hey, why not? It's supposed to really help, but make sure you take choline with it. I'm actually more interested in the lucid dreaming aspect of it than the improved academic performance aspect, this being summer and all, but I'll let you know how it goes.

placebo effect.... if you spent that much money on drugs to study, you're going to make sure you get your money's worth, making you have an extra incentive to study.

Do some research for yourself before you try anything. There's tons of information all over the internet, with the best and most unbiased source (in my opinion) being www.erowid.org
Piracetam seems to work pretty well and have no negative side effects, unless you don't take choline with it (or so I've heard) or unless you're pregnant.

Cortez, I have no doubt that Piracetam will stimulate your cerebral cortex and likely change -- perhaps even improve -- the functioning of neurons in the brain at some level. Will this make you "smarter"? Well, maybe, i don't really know. But studying is a whole different game than being smart -- after all, many smart kids don't study or do homework. Studying is more about power of focus and will. Piracetam, as far as I know, doesn't improve concentration or help you focus like something like Adderol might. So any improvement in studying from use of Piracetam, I would think, would result more from motivation to actually study because you have the drug supposedly making it easier than any actual chemical changes occurring in your brain. Of course you could combine Piracetam with adderol or something, but combining drugs isn't usually a great idea.

But still I don't see how piracetam helps you study.

There is plenty of research documenting the safety and non-toxicity of piracetam.I'd suggest you do a google search on this,or Wikipedia it up. (Wikipedia articles have links to reputable sources). Also, it has been shown to improve cognition in certain cases.

Point is though - we need drugs that help either improve:
a) motivation
or b) attention span/concentration.

A lot of anti-Alzheimer's drugs that aren't controlled do help with both. Unfortunately, I spent too much money on herbal supplements and my parents aren't going to let me buy deprenyl. *sigh*

In any case, if I can recall correctly, drugs like piracetam help improve memory the most... But things like memory and wakefulness (modafinil is uber-good with that respect) are a lot easier to manipulate than intelligence.

I like erowid.org, but unfortunately, the community is more interested in getting high than in studying for long binges.
