people usually find out via e-mail, teacher, or mail.
You should e-mail and be a pest as much as you can, but The person that you e-mail and usually answers back is ATapnio@scholastic.com. He told the other girl that she had won and what-not, but he told me that national winners are not yet announced and they will be notified in 2 to 3 weeks.
I guess the only thing left is patience.

I am so confused!!! If one submitted in the writing category for RAL, would you have heard by now if you won on a regional level, or do RAL writing entries go right to the national level? From reading the preceding posts, it seems like some RAL entries already received awards and are waiting to hear about national level awards. In other words, if we haven't heard anything at all yet, does that mean we haven't won anything and don't have a chance at winning something?

I just called out found out that I have won a silver key award on the national level for my general writing portfolio. I'm kinda disappointed that I won't be going to Carnegie Hall, but this is still a great honor!

Photography

I live in Georgia and we did not have regionals where I live. I was e-mailed in March saying that I had won a gold award and to UPS my photo to NYC on the Scholastic account. They said I would receive more info in 3-4 weeks and have not received anything else. The art director of my county was notified by e-mail and a spread sheet of Georgia National Winners. This is all so very vague and confusing! Good luck to all!

Jenz- national silver award winners are still invited to come to carnegie hall. you just don't get to go up on stage. you also don't get $10,000. alas.

another anomaly - last year i won a regional gold key award for a short short story and for poetry; the poetry went on to win a national silver award. this year, i entered 2 short stories, a short short story, and poetry into the RAL, but i haven't heard back yet. But, I'm not losing hope--as I said before, last year I wasn't even notified about my regional wins until the last week in april (my regional and national notification came on the same day).

GOOD LUCK ;-)

Vegangirl, Thanks, I found out!! Jegan3, I spoke to Ms. Lisa Feder-Feitel. We've seemed to have formed an alliance since January.

Quick question-

Once we've submitted a story to Scholastic, are we allowed to use it in other contests? Because I was nominated for this writing award, and I need to submit a writing sample. Could I send my Scholastic submission?

Merrrrci!

I have two friends who won the $10,000 awards in their areas. General portfolio, and nonfiction. I go to a bomb azz public arts school in SC...It's pretty sweet. The Scholastics people called and told them personally they had won. Last year they did the same thing with another guy who won the nonfiction part.

SCGSAH=best school in the south
