Probably they called the number listed on the art/writing award website, which is the main line for scholastic in new york. then you choose the option for speaking to an operator, and then ask that person to connect you to someone working on the art/writing awards. this is what i did, though the person i ended up talking to gave me incorrect info, so it's hit or miss.

Hmm...I just tried that and the woman I spoke to simply said that notifications were sent out at the end of last week.

But has anybody on here actually gotten anything in the mail yet?

just got an actually person at scholastic. she told me all the people in the dept who had access to the info about winners were out of the office until next week. also said the letters for winners of RAL would be in the mail soon and people would have them by the end of next week. do they keep saying that? and the date keeps moving?

Last year for gold and silver winners - were you asked to send in your work to NY? If so, when?

i emailed them and this is what i got (btw i called them like 50x on thurs and fri... and i got NOTHING):

"Dear Young Artists and Writers,

Thanks again for participating in the 2007 Scholastic Art & Writing Awards program. We are delighted that you chose to submit your work and have it evaluated in the context of your peers. It takes courage and is also a significant step on your creative path.

Notifications for region-at-large entries are in the mail, and if your work has been recognized this year, you, your teacher and your principal will receive a notification packet in the next few weeks. If you haven?t heard from us within two weeks, please email us at either ARAL@scholastic.com (for art region at large submissions) or at WRAL@scholastic.com (for writing region at large submissions), subject line: notification.

National level notifications are also being mailed now and if your work has earned an award on the national level you will receive a packet in the mail within the next few weeks. If you have not heard from us within 4 weeks, you may email us at A&Wgeneralmailbox@scholastic.com, subject line: National notification.

Thank you for your patience with us, and again, for taking part in the 2007 Scholastic Art & Writing Awards program. We hope that you will participate again in the fall. Please look at our web site, www.artandwriting.org, in October, for guidelines on how to enter your work.

All best,
Alex"
