| I'm definitely going to be doing it, I've been reading Atkins & Carey since the school year started and have been doing the old problems from the past 15-20 years or so of the National & Local exam. My teacher just has to sign me up, and I keep bugging her that the deadline is fast approaching, and tomorrow I'm definitely going to bug her untill she does it. How has everyone else been preparing? |

| Wait when is the test? I just heard about it. YOu think its too late to sign up since i have not studied at all. I studied for SAT chem in november. Took ap chem last year. Is brown + Lemay good enough? IS there a specific review book for the test? Are we allowed to use calculators? Darn wish i knew about it earlier. |

| The open exam is usually in march, you have time...
Me? I finished Carey's Organic Chemistry book, now I'm moving onto Voet's Biochemistry...as you can tell I'm really pushing for IChO lol...and then I'll take a 2 week break to get ready for the local exam by re-reading atkins, and then again over april break before the USNCO national exam. (I'm also trying to make USABO camp, so from now till the local exam I'm prepping for that and hopefully the semifinal exam...which is basically a sign that I abandoned shooting for USAMO lol) |

| Just about. Thorough knowledge of the AP syllabus is enough for the local exam. For nationals, you need something geared towards undergraduates (see: Atkins), and the first half of the first semester of organic chemistry. |

| I had the second best score in my section with a 90%, and I live in a highly competitive area. So no, even 40-45 on the local exam (out of 60, and note that getting a question wrong does not go against you) could qualify you, although if you want to be a "lock" you should aim for 50+ |
