Haha, I use sparknotes for books such as The Scarlet Letter... Otherwise, if it's I hear good, I try my best to read it.

That much summerwork is ridiculous. Having recently graduated high school I can say I never had summerwork. You need to have time to relax and refresh. Just like muscles, your brain has to be given rest. Some of the stuff you guys are saying is more than I ever had to do over a whole semester.

I am shocked that some of you have such ridiculous homework. I am taking 5 APs next year and I have hardly half of what some of you guys have. 2 books for AP Gov and 3 for AP Lit and I don't even need to write anything about them.

6 books/essays, 6 chapters in two textbooks, some reading/analyzing documents (answering the questions), one history essay, 8 chapters or so in two books, defining terms, and I think there's more.
*shoots self*
Most of this is only for two AP classes. I'm only taking 3 AP and 2 Honors next year (I say only because it can't compare to the number of APs some people are taking here D

Let's see...

-AP English Lit.
Read 8 books

-AP Latin
Read The Iliad, The Odyssey, and the Aeneid (at least twice for the Aeneid)
Do summaries on all of the characters people, locations, etc.
Do research on Roman history from Caesar's assassination onward to the Augustan Age.
Do a packet on said Roman history, which is just summaries on time, people, events.

-AP Calculus AB (if I have to take this instead of regular Calc)
Worksheet packet for review

-AP Environmental
Read a book. I don't know the specifics since the assignment isn't up on the school website yet.

-Marching Band
Band camp
Practice
