My friend got one of those phony emails about an African dude sharing 10 million bucks with him, but requires friend to hand over $1000 for confirmation. He did, and he's been waiting for a reply.
So, erm. Where did he get the $1000?

Here's what you do. You say you know the guy and that the 1k must have just gotten lost. This guy, he's a real trustworthy guy. He's good for the money. But to just make sure it doesn't get lost again, your friend should give you the 1k. You know, to give to the guy.

Win win, right?

OH!!! my dad's boss got a "Please help me I'm a North Korean expat blah blah blah" So my dad's boss gives it to my dad cuz he's Korean. The guy speaks English. (because the email's in english) very unusual. So he messes with the fake expat. And a month later we find a confirmation letter for 500 in the bank and a letter from the Ghanian embassy. fishy eh?
