| The reason your GPA is not coming out the way you think it should is because, as romanigypsyeyes said, previous grades impact your GPA.
And Romanigypsyeyes, whenever I read your name quickly, I think it says "roaming pigs eyes"! Lol! |

| As a dyslexic person, I completely understand, but that's probably the best one I've gotten so far. If it was capitalized how it's supposed to be, it'd be less confusing. Lol. |

You're a freshman!!! And being val means absolutely nothing in real life... and it almost means nothing to colleges! So who cares? As long as you are in the top 10-15%.... |

| I don't have to do math. Answer: Person A. In our school, AP has way higher gpa than honors, if you have the same grades. |

| but most schools you apply to will take your weighted GPA which you care so much about, and change it back to a 4.0 scale.
So many high schools have so many different system, 4.0 with A, B, C, D respectively is the only consistant one they use.
And i agree with the other posters. Dont freak out about your class rank so much! Class rank doesnt mean that much anyway. Of GPA, SAT/ACT, Class rank, and other intangibles, class rank is probably the lowest of them all. |

| wsu, i know it doesnt mean much, but when you're in a really competitive class of almost 700 in a competitive school, and have a chance at valdeictorian, it means a lot to me. |

| if it means so much to you, then ask your counselor who can tell you for sure what it is, because we can't tell you how your school ranks. |

| It shouldn't mean a lot to you...
Think about it - if the personal choice of classes pushes you just slightly above another, are you really that much better than them?
Or, what if things take a dive and you end up getting a B thru no fault of your own (eg. you get really sick)?
It's a worthless goal. You'll probably go to one of the top colleges and find that there's many more intelligent people that are simply above you.
This kind of competition is not healthy. |

| I can almost guarantee you will get a B in some class. For example, I've gotten straight A+'s my entire life. Then this year (I'm a soph), because I'm in some classes people my age won't take for another 2 years, I got a couple Bs.
But I also go to an extremely (if not the most competitive) school. Almost nobody from my school graduates with straight A's. And the people who get into great school (Harvard, for example), get a B or two almost every year.
And as a freshman, I'd say you have no way of predicting whether you'll be val. So stop worrying about it. You can get freaked out about it next year, when you have a better sense of your rank (so many people get A's freshmen year... but not that many get straight A's sophomore year.). |

| I agree with the previous posts
Weighted GPA really doesn't matter much. Most colleges have their own system of weighing GPA's anyways.
And as for class rank, it's wayyyy too early to tell. Maybe someone ranked above you will screw up in the next three years, or maybe you will. The bottom line is, you should take the classes that interest you the most, not ones that will get you more points.
I get the competitive part, being a type A person myself haha, but don't let it influence you too much in your academic choices. |
